My Priorities for the Next Term
We got a lot done in my first term, but there’s more work to do. Here’s what I’ll fight for next session.
Keep Our Communities Safe. I spent almost 20 years in law enforcement, and I know what police, deputies and prosecutors need to do their jobs. I’ll keep fighting for more assistant district attorneys in Washington and Waukesha counties, tougher penalties for the dealers pushing carfentanil and fentanyl into our communities, and real protections for officers, including keeping their personal information out of the hands of people who want to harm them.
Protect Kids Online. Predators are using social media and apps to reach our children. I’ll push to pass the bills I coauthored to fund more Internet Crimes Against Children investigators, make grooming a child a crime, let families sue over sextortion and give parents control over their kids’ social media accounts.
Finish the Job on Vetoed Bills. Governor Evers vetoed ICE cooperation, the ban on transition surgeries for minors and UW reform. I’ll bring all three back next session, along with E-Verify so Wisconsin employers can confirm workers are here legally.
Protect Free Speech. My bipartisan anti-SLAPP bill passed the Assembly. I’ll bring it back so no one in Wisconsin can be buried in legal bills by a frivolous lawsuit meant to shut them up.
Lower Taxes and the Cost of Living. Move Wisconsin towards a no-income-tax state. End the income tax on tips and overtime and lower the tax burden on retirees and working families.
Protect Our Elections. Only verified Wisconsin residents can now circulate nomination papers. Next, I want to ban absentee ballot drop boxes, crack down on fraud through drop boxes and the mail.
Put Parents and Teachers in Charge of the Classroom. Expand school choice, give parents the right to see every textbook and lesson plan and give teachers the authority to handle disruptive and violent behavior.
Back Our First Responders. Our volunteer fire departments and rural EMS squads are stretched thin. I’ll support funding for EMS training and reimbursement, fairer worker’s compensation for first responders, and more mental health crisis resources so officers aren’t left handling every crisis alone.
Defend the Second Amendment. Support constitutional carry and a sales tax holiday on firearms, ammunition and archery equipment ahead of hunting season.
Stand Up for Farmers and Small Businesses. Cut red tape for farmers and small business owners, and stop hostile foreign governments like China from buying Wisconsin farmland.
Protect Ratepayers and Local Control. Make sure data centers pay their own way instead of passing costs on to your electric bill, ban secret agreements that hide data center projects from the public, and leave the final say on whether one gets built to the local community.
