He also skipped another discussion on the same issue a day before.
Town of Erin – Assembly candidate Jim Piwowarczyk is raising concerns about his opponent Don Pridemore’s outrageous July 23 vote on the Hartford Joint 1 School Board to approve the Biden administration’s Title IX language for middle and elementary kids.
The revised language includes gender identity and “sex stereotypes” in the expanded definition of sex discrimination. In addition, Piwowarczyk noted that Pridemore skipped a key discussion on the same topic before the separate Hartford Union High School Board when the revised language failed to pass that Board because no one seconded the motion.
Piwowarczyk, a former police sergeant running as a Republican, questioned Pridemore’s July 28 press release, in which Pridemore, 78, and another Hartford Joint 1 board member claimed they were “misled and taken advantage of for the convenience of the administration.” Piwowarczyk, 54, and Pridemore are squaring off in the Aug. 13 primary for the 98th Assembly District seat.
“The 98th Assembly district deserves to be represented by a legislator who won’t get things wrong on important issues and who will take the time to figure out what he’s voting on, rather than being a rubber stamp for the Biden administration,” Piwowarczyk said. “As the father of a female athlete in this district, I am furious by the School Board’s vote. Pridemore should have done his due diligence and researched what he was voting on. He also should have shown up for the high school board’s discussion on the same topic. It’s all indefensible.”
According to the Washington County Daily News, the Hartford Joint 1 board, including Pridemore, unanimously voted to pass the revised Title IX language. The revised definition of sex discrimination includes “discrimination based on sex stereotypes, sex characteristics, pregnancy or related conditions, sexual orientation, and gender identity,” Daily News reported. That Board covers Lincoln Elementary, Rossman Elementary, and Central Middle.
Pridemore has asked for his yes vote to be stricken and another vote taken with the deadline looming fast. “He should have gotten it right the first time,” Piwowarczyk said. The second School Board for the high school didn’t pass the revised language after failing to get a second to the motion – with Pridemore absent, the Daily News reported.
