Washington County Sheriff Martin Schulteis Endorses Jim Piwowarczyk for Assembly

Washington County Sheriff Martin Schulteis endorsed former law enforcement officer Jim Piwowarczyk for state Assembly, saying Piwowarczyk has a “proven track record of advocating for public safety throughout the entire state.”

Piwowarczyk, 53, is running for the 98th Assembly District open seat, which encompasses parts of Washington and Waukesha Counties.

“As the chief law enforcement officer in Washington County, I fully endorse Jim as our next representative in Assembly District 98,” Schulteis said. “He has a clear understanding of the challenges facing local law enforcement, and a proven track record of advocating for public safety throughout the entire state.”

According to Schulteis, “Jim has demonstrated a genuine commitment to serving his constituents’ best interests with integrity, empathy, and respect.” The sheriff noted, “As sheriff, I endorse candidates who are dedicated to collaborating with local public safety with the desire to create safer neighborhoods for all. Jim is that individual.”

Piwowarczyk thanked Schulteis for his endorsement. “I am thrilled to have the endorsement of Sheriff Schulteis,” Piwowarczyk said. “He is a respected sheriff who works hard to protect the citizens of Washington County and I looked forward to work with him to advance common-sense legislation to help do the same in the state Legislature.”

The primary is Aug. 13.

Schulteis joins a long list of key officials who have endorsed Piwowarczyk. Piwowarczyk was previously endorsed by Washington County Executive Josh Schoemann, Washington County District Attorney Mark Bensen, and Washington County Treasurer Scott Henke, who is the former City of Hartford mayor. He is also endorsed by Republican state Rep. Barbara Dittrich of Oconomowoc, Republican state Rep. Bob Donovan, Republican State Sen. Dan Knodl, and Republican businessman Will Martin.

Piwowarczyk was also endorsed by former Republican Attorney General candidate and Fond du Lac County District Attorney Eric Toney.
